Colorado Sketchbook

We took a long weekend in Colorado last month, flying into Denver, and driving into Estes Park and over Trail Ridge Road in the Rocky Mountain National Park. I had my 6” x 9” Aquabee Super Deluxe sketchbook at hand, and did a number of quick pen sketches at the lookout points along the way. The distant mountains were purple, and the meadows golden yellow. The sky was cloudy with a storm on the way. There were still patches of snow above timberline.

I have included a few local architectural scenes as well: my Mom’s backyard and the view of the valley in the distance, my brother’s ranch/cabin, and two train station studies. In addition to the Aquabee, I also used an 11” x 14” Canson Montval watercolor sketchbook.
