Swain's Art Store Workshop

Last month I taught a one-day watercolor workshop at Swain’s Art Store in Glendale. Swain’s is a fantastic store, carrying every major brand of watercolor paint, brushes, paper, and sketchbooks. If they don’t have it, they can probably get it for you. They set aside part of the store as a workshop space. It is well set up with tables, display walls and good lighting. Christian was our host, and was able to keep us supplied with any additional materials we needed throughout the course of the day. That is one great advantage of conducting the workshop in an art store.

These images are of the workshop. I demonstrated the use of the sketchbook to develop composition and value studies, and developed two half-sheet paintings, incorporating pen and ink and white paint in the final version.
